Sunjay is passionate about diversity and inclusion. He offered us feedback on our recruitment advertising that was appreciated and insightful, and we are reviewing some of our language and processes in response.

Global Employer Brand & Talent Attraction Lead
Rolls-Royce

Over the last year at Rolls-Royce, we have remained committed to building a culture where everyone can be their best and developing our D&I strategy. We’ve re-designed our external attraction approach to reach and engage diverse candidates and remove barriers as part of the development of our global inclusive hiring strategy.

As a consequence of our conversations with you, we’re expediting our efforts to remove desirable criteria from our UK job adverts and specifications. This will be initially implemented in the UK and we’re taking a global view on removing desirable criteria where legislation allows. We’ll be updating our UK job advert templates and job advert training in the coming weeks and aim to have the changes fully embedded across UK hiring by the end of the year as part of our existing strategy work.

We’ve valued your input and feedback, so I’d like to say thank you for your efforts in reaching out to us and sharing your research, but also for your dedication to creating an inclusive hiring experience for all across the UK

Chief People Officer
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

Sunjay has been a critical friend to me and my organisation in how we word job adverts to be more inclusive. He is passionate about inclusion and challenging about how it looks, as well as how we think it is. His energy for using real words and phrases that make sense is refreshing, and we all need the reality check he generously provides now and again!

I wanted to write to say thank you for your valuable insights into our recruitment processes from an equality, diversity and inclusion perspective. As you are aware, your points and suggestions were discussed at Executive level including the CEO. This has led to your suggestions being incorporated into our revised recruitment advertising and processes, for which CPFT are very grateful.

Also, I wanted to thank you for your valuable contributions at our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion conference, it was really great to have a perspective which was not necessarily NHS centric, I feel this added wonderful neuro diversity to our discussions on the day.

I believe you have a great deal to add to the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda, your passion and thirst for knowledge in this important area is commendable. I wish you every future success and would be happy to provide a testimonial or speak to any future employer about your qualities.

Director of Audience Strategy,
Coventry City of Culture Trust

Coventry is one of the UK’s most diverse cities, and we wanted to build a team that represented this. In 2018, shortly after winning the bid to become UK City of Culture 2021, we were contacted by Sunjay who suggested a way that we could review our job descriptions to make sure they didn’t present barriers to applicants from a range of backgrounds.

We adopted the recommendation, and sought a considerable amount of advice from partners, which has ensured we have attracted candidates, and built a Team, which are representative and reflective of the diversity of Coventry and the region.
